Bindu Sagar: On His Way to a Healthy Life!

Bindu Sagar

Bindu Sagar (“Bindu”) was less than 3 weeks old, when he was diagnosed with a major cardiac defect. His parents, were shocked to learn that their child had a severe illness and were overwhelmed by the cost of his proposed treatment. Bindu needed an Arterial Switch and a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) surgical closure. His parents sought affordable treatment for him, but could not find a hospital willing to take his son’s case.

Just when they thought there was no hope, a doctor at one of the hospitals referred Bindu’s case to Dr. Mannam. By then, Bindu was about 6 weeks old. He was operated upon immediately by Dr. Mannam, on February 13, 2013 at STAR Hospitals in Hyderabad. Bindu Sagar had a very long post-operative stay (nearly two months) in the ICU before he had to undergo another procedure called Tracheostomy, which cleared his throat facilitating easy breathing. Timely financial help and surgical expertise helped save one more precious life!

Bindu, post surgery, is on his way to a healthy life.

Bindu’s parents expressed their gratitude with these words – “We are indebted to Hrudaya Foundation and the donors for supporting our son’s surgery. Without their help, it would not have been possible to see our child live a normal life. Many, many thanks to the donors…”
