Jeevan Kumar: A Chance at Life

Jeevan Kumar is the son of an agricultural laborer. At four months of age, he was turning blue and cry severely. He was diagnosed with a Tetrology of Fallot with Good Pulmonic Atresia Anotomy, Small Ostium Secundum Atrial Septal defect and needed to be operated immediately. With a referral from his pediatrician, his father brought him to STAR Hospitals for tests and evaluation. Hrudaya stepped in with financial assistance as the cost of the treatment was prohibitive for this family that was barely able to make ends meet.

In June 2013, Dr. Mannam performed the required surgery (Intra Cardiac Repair of Tetrology of Fallot along with Patent Ductus Arteriosus Ligation and Atrial Septal Defect Closure). 14 days after his surgery, with the efforts of a team of the doctors, he was discharged in a stable condition.

Conveying his gratitude, Jeevan’s father said “You have given my son a chance at life, and I could never fully repay you — I am truly blessed to have Jeevan Kumar back and I thank all the people who supported my son’s surgery and kept him in my life.”
