Pullaiah hails from a poor family works as an agricultural labor in the village of Cuddappah district. He was happy with meager income which is sufficient for his small family consists of wife and two kids, but his happiness did not stay for long… When he learnt that his 3 months old son is suffering with a hole in the heart when he was taken to the pediatrician for fever with respiratory distress. The doctors advised it will be cured as he grows up but did not happen. His son again after two months became very sick and was advised by the doctor that he needs an urgent surgery and asked him take the child to a better hospital in the city for surgery.
Pullaiah did not understand what to do and he had no idea how much money is needed for this surgery and from where to get the money if its expensive.. This day he felt his income is very low through which he cannot get his child treated. One his village member suggested him to approach an organization called Hrudaya Foundation which is a helping hand for poor children suffering with heart diseases. Pullaiah approached Hrudaya foundation alongwith all the medical documents of the child, the foundation after verifying the status of the family decided to support and sent the family to the cardiologists for complete evaluation and to know the plan of treatment and estimated cost of surgery..The doctors did not mentioned that the chances of survival are not much as the case is high risk and needs lot of finances..
Seeing the pain of the child and the counseling provided by Hrudaya team and doctors, father decided to go for surgery. Through Hrudaya’s support, the child had undergone Arterial Switch surgery (very high risk) on 23rd April 2015 at STAR hospitals. The child had a very critical condition post surgery, through Doctors’ efforts; the child came out of this condition and recovered. The child was taken home in a stable condition on 2nd May 2015.
